The #OpenThailandSafely communications campaign, led by Khiri Travel in partnership with various travel industry voices, has been honored with the 2023 WiT Travel Changemakers Award in the Local Community Engagement category.
Commencing in March 2021, the OpenThailandSafely campaign was conceived to facilitate the safe reintegration of tourists into Thailand, a pivotal undertaking following the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nation’s tourism sector. This initiative was launched in early 2021 as global vaccination campaigns gained traction and destinations such as the Maldives and Greece reopened their doors to tourists. The fundamental idea behind OpenThailandSafely was to grant vaccinated travelers entry to Thailand without the requirement for mandatory quarantine. Khiri Travel in Thailand spearheaded this initiative with the support of 60 travel industry companies and organizations, including prominent names like the Minor Group, Asian Trails, Capella Hotels, and SKAL International. The campaign garnered an impressive 12,323 online signatures from supporters!
On October 3rd, Khiri Travel’s Brand Director, Marsha Niemeijer, accepted the Changemaker award at the WiT conference held in Singapore.
