We’re thrilled to announce the official return of the Borobudur Sunrise program, starting July 17, 2025, following a successful trial on July 15.
For years, watching the sunrise from the top of Borobudur Temple has been a truly unforgettable experience — golden rays breaking through morning mist, casting light on ancient stupas, and offering a moment of peace and wonder at one of the world’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
After being closed during the pandemic, this once-in-a-lifetime experience is now open to the public once again.
The program begins at 04:00 AM, with access to Level 9 of the temple for sunrise viewing. If time allows, guests can also explore Borobudur’s famous relief corridors before heading back to the Borobudur Cultural Center around 06:30 AM for a light breakfast.
Please note:
– Reservations must be made at least one day in advance
– Limited to 100 visitors per day, so early booking is highly recommended
