Coco Dining and Whisky Bar Saigon offers Michelin-starred dining, refined service, and a luxurious whisky lounge for an unforgettable evening.

When a restaurant receives Michelin Selection recognition two years in a row (2023 and 2024), it naturally draws attention. Coco Dining and Whisky Bar has been awarded the first Michelin star with this year’s update. Located in Saigon, the restaurant exceeded expectations in delivering a sophisticated and contemporary Vietnamese dining experience.

The evening began with arrival by taxi, and the hospitality was apparent even before entering the restaurant. A valet welcomed guests at the curb, setting a warm and seamless tone. Inside, the receptionist added a personal touch by escorting guests directly to their table. The dining space struck a balance between elegance and intimacy, with carefully spaced tables offering privacy without feeling isolated. Service throughout the evening was exceptional. The assigned waiter, a Canadian with Vietnamese heritage, spoke fluent English and demonstrated deep expertise in both the food and wine menus. His guidance throughout the meal added a personalized and professional element to the overall experience. 

Coco Dining offers both a nine-course degustation menu and an à la carte selection. While the degustation menu—featuring exquisitely presented seafood dishes—was visually stunning at neighboring tables, the à la carte menu was chosen due to dietary preferences. The culinary journey began with a vibrant amuse-bouche that set the stage for the courses to follow.

For the appetizer, the Bluefin Tuna was selected: a bold and inventive dish featuring 7-day cured tuna, Son La Arabica, and fermented Da Lat strawberries. Each bite delivered a compelling blend of textures and flavors. The main course featured the Black Angus Tenderloin MB 4+, paired with truffle mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection—tender and flavorful—while the truffle mashed potatoes added depth and richness to the plate. Dessert was the Chocolate Whisky, an indulgent creation combining whisky-infused chocolate and velvety chocolate ice cream. It was a memorable conclusion to the meal, with lingering notes of richness and warmth. The restaurant also offers an extensive wine list, with a strong emphasis on French and Italian labels. A 2021 South African Pinotage was chosen for the evening, pairing beautifully with the main course and enhancing its flavors.

Adjacent to the dining area is a whisky and cigar bar, where expertly crafted cocktails are served in a more relaxed setting. It provides the perfect space to unwind before or after dinner, adding a luxurious extra dimension to the visit. While the degustation menu was not sampled directly, its visual appeal and attention to detail were clear—a feast for the eyes that left a strong impression.
