Join a Vietnamese coffee workshop to brew and taste iconic egg, salted, and iced coffees while exploring Vietnam’s rich coffee culture.
There’s something quietly magical about stepping into Vietnam’s coffee culture, a world that feels both familiar and entirely new. Vietnam’s coffee culture is unlike anywhere else in the world with its many coffee variations and unique drinking styles. For most, it is more than just a drink, it’s a ritual, a conversation, a reflection of place and history.
During this immersive workshop, we journey through the country from North to South, one cup at a time, exploring the three distinct coffee traditions shaped by their regions. The experience begins with a warm welcome from a local coffee barista, who sets the tone with stories of Vietnam’s long-standing cafe habits, the mornings that begin not with haste but with slow, thoughtful brewing.

First, we learn to make cà phê trứng, the famed egg coffee of Hanoi in the North of Vietnam. It is rich and creamy, made by whipping egg yolks with sweetened milk and pouring it over strong, dark coffee. As we sip our creations, a short film reveals Hanoi’s back-alley roasters and crowded cafes where this drink was born out of wartime scarcity and over the years transformed into a national treasure. Next, we travel through flavor to Hue in Central Vietnam, where we craft cà phê muối, the distinctive taste of salted coffee. This cup surprises the palate, it is slightly tangy, deeply aromatic, a delicate balance of bitterness and salt that feels somehow oceanic. We pause to compare, to taste, and to reflect. Finally, we make our way down to South Vietnam, the bustling, tropical Saigon with a glass of cà phê sữa đá, the infamous iced coffee sweetened with condensed milk. It is smooth, familiar, and nostalgic. The ice clinks as we stir, the flavors are bright and bold, like the city itself.
Throughout the workshop, the coffee barista shares anecdotes and techniques, creating space for laughter, questions, and appreciation. By the end, there’s no pressure to choose a favorite, though many do as each coffee tells a different story, and together, they form a vibrant portrait of Vietnam.
