Experience Sri Lanka’s culinary heritage on a curated village food trail featuring authentic dishes, local hosts, and countryside charm.
There is a misconception that Luxury and Local are two words which are not strongly connected. Perhaps it is true for the pretentious luxury tourists who wouldn’t want to step out of the comfort zone and prefer to stick to their bubble of all-inclusive resorts. However, we think differently and we are here to prove that authentic local immersion is also possible for the luxury travelers who seeks real experiences beyond the surface. So, here we present Landy’s Food Trail, a village food tour with a touch of adventure.

In the morning you will head over to Habarana and hop into a vintage Land Rover (Landy is her name) renovated to its former glory as you will roam through the inner villages visiting several houses. It will mostly be the village ladies that will cook for you as they are the real master chefs when it comes to local food. You will have a specialist food insider hosting you as you go along this culinary journey, giving more context to the whole experience.

While the experience is not scripted and set in stone, along the way you will get to taste various local delicacies and also see how some of them are made freshly in front of your eye. While the crunchy hoppers are made in a round pan, try your hand at frying some crispy Kokis.

Whether it’s some string hoppers with a spicy coconut sambol or a sweet fried asmee, a rolled and fried Mung Kavum to a Kottu Roti chopped to a rhythm, each dish will have a story to share and a taste to savor and linger. Don’t feel shy to join the locals and please feel free try your hand at preparing some of the dishes as the ladies will guide you.

Last but not the least, you will arrive at a rustic yet charming lodge that will bring you close to the adventure of staying closer to nature. You will be treated for your big reveal of a fusion Sri Lankan lunch with ingredients closer to the heart of all Sri Lankans. As you finish off the plates, bid farewell to the warm smiles of locals and head back with tastebuds full of flavors and a mind full of memories.
