Southeast Asia beckons! With travel restrictions easing and exciting new policies in place, Thailand and Laos are welcoming tourists with open arms. Here’s a quick rundown of what you need to know before you embark on your Southeast Asian adventure:
Thailand
- Visa-Free Entry: Great news for many travelers! As of July 15, 2024, Thailand offers visa-free entry for citizens of numerous countries, allowing stays of up to 30 days.
- Expanded Visa on Arrival (VOA): The VOA program has been extended to include more nationalities. Additionally, the permitted stay has been increased to 60 days for tourists and business travelers from 93 countries.
- Sustainable Travel Focus: Thailand is embracing eco-tourism and sustainable practices. Many resorts and tour operators are implementing green initiatives, making your trip kinder to the environment.
Laos
- Visa-Free Entry: Citizens of certain countries (including Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Spain, and Greece) enjoy visa-free stays for 15 days. Be sure to check your country’s status.
- Visa on Arrival (VoA): Available at 13 designated ports of entry. Upon arrival, simply obtain the form, complete it, and pay the fee (ensure your USD bills are in good condition).
- eVisa: Apply online for a hassle-free option (at least a week before your trip). Valid at 6 specific ports of entry.
- Tourist Visa: Obtainable via an embassy or VoA, this visa offers stays of 30 or 60 days.
- Multiple Entry Visa: Citizens of specific countries (including Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, and several European countries) can enjoy stays of up to 60 days with a multiple entry visa.
