Step into the world of marine conservation with the Indonesia Biru Foundation in Kecinan, Lombok, and take part in a regenerative experience that actively supports the restoration of the island’s coral reef ecosystem.
The experience begins with a guided visit to the Coral Laboratory, where participants learn about coral biology, reef ecosystems, and the science behind coral propagation and restoration. Through interactive educational sessions led by the IBF conservation team, you will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of healthy coral reefs in supporting marine biodiversity and local coastal communities.
Following the learning session, participants move to the beach to take part in a hands-on coral planting activity. Working alongside the IBF team, each group will attach coral fragments onto specially designed reef spider frames, which will later be carefully installed at the restoration site by certified divers. No swimming or diving experience is required, making this activity accessible to everyone.
Weather permitting, participants can continue with a guided shore snorkelling session to observe the coral restoration sites and discover Lombok’s vibrant underwater life, including colourful reef fish, sea turtles, seahorses, and other fascinating marine species. After snorkelling, guests will also learn how to identify different fish species found around the reef.
This regenerative experience not only deepens participants’ understanding of marine conservation but also leaves a lasting positive legacy by contributing to the long-term recovery of Lombok’s coral reef ecosystems.
